I have been meaning to post something for months and there is finally a little time. Todd and I have spent the last two months moving out of our first home together and into my parents house. We started when my parents went to California and just finished getting out of the apartment yesterday. We got EXTREMELY lucky and found a couple who only want to stay in Lubbock 2 months and so they took over our lease so we were able to get out 2 months early and save that $1,200+ we were dreading paying for an empty apartment.
Todd and I realized that we did the entire move (with the exception of one day when some of Todd's family came to help move large items) all by ourselves!! No wonder it took two months! Thank God for my parents and Todd's who babysat Rissa for us so many nights so that we could work without a little person undoing every box we packed! We would still be packing if it weren't for them!! With two full time jobs, a staggering amount of life packed into 1,00 sq. ft., and life getting in the way, we are pretty proud!!
In the midst of all of this was my best friend's wedding which I was Maid of Honor for, Rissa was Flower Girl, and Todd was Videographer. It was a busy time and took a lot out of us, but it was such a joy to share in their wedding process. We have a lot left to do, since Jason went straight from high school to military school to working on boats, his room (where Todd and I will be living) pretty much had his entire life still in it. Poor brudder is getting moved out of the only real place he has for his stuff :( sorry Jas. But we have tried to be as nice as possible and boxed his things so he will know where everthing is. Rissa has been enjoying having a bedroom the size of the old apartment! She has my old room and I honestly don't know how I managed to make her little miniature room at the apartment work with all of her toys!
I will miss our first home together, but we are looking forward to really getting a strong financial foundation under us. We have been taking the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University course at Broadway, and he said to sell everything (including your car) and make the kids think they are next in order to get out of debt...well, we tried to sell everything, but found people didn't care for our stuff, we LOVE our car and got a great deal on it, so...we decided to move instead! So far it has been going pretty well. Todd and Rissa and I got a few weeks there alone to get settled and help Todd and Rissa feel more at home and so that helped. Now that mom and dad are home I think we will do just fine.
I am breathing easier today than I have in countless months, and it helps to write down just how much has been accomplished these last long months. There is still so much to do, but a lot of pressure is off all of a sudden. Love to you all, thank you for all the prayers and support!
